Christian Education

SUNDAY SCHOOL - 9:45 A.M.

The Christian Education program at St. John's supports an array of year-round Sunday school classes attuned to the spiritual growth of individuals at every stage of life. These classes include a catechetical program for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, and a daytime Vacation Bible School for a full week each summer.

We are so excited that St. John's is now offering a Rotational Sunday School Program.  Each Sunday morning children ages 3 through 3rd grade meet in Room L05, below the Fellowship Hall, for an opening filled with prayer, music, dance and excitement!  Then the children break out by age group and explore God's Word in four different sessions:  Holy Word Theater, Raiders of the Lost Art, Quest, and Goofy Games.  Be sure not to miss out on all the fun God's Word has for each of us!

The Fourth and Fifth Grade Sunday School class meet in Room L10, below the Sanctuary, to learn more about the Bible together.

Confirmation Class is for grades 6-8. As our youth prepare to affirm their baptisms, they learn what it means to be a Lutheran Christian through study of the Bible and the Small Catechism.

High School and College Classes meet to study the Scriptures and how they relate to every day life.

St. John's has a wide variety of adult classes, including:

  • Young Families, which tackles topics of faith and life
  • Alpha and Omega, a in-depth walk through the Bible
  • Bible Study Class: Genesis to Revelation, an overview of God's story
  • Fellowship Class, a group of seniors who study God's plan for his people
  • Contemporary Discussions, a lively and faithful discussion of current events
  • Martin's Table, whose current study is based on a video series on the Holy Land

All are welcome to deepen their discipleship by walking in the Word of God.

During Christian Education and worship (9:00am-12:30pm), there is a nursery available for infants through age 2.

       Memo to the Congregation:

Dear Congregation:
We are asking for your assistance and support. Our goal for the nursery here at St. John’s is to provide the best possible care for infants and young children ages three and under. In relation to this, we are asking that anyone under the age of 21 NOT be permitted in the nursery unless they are a paid nursery attendant or assigned volunteer. We currently have several newborns and infants under our care during nursery hours and it is imperative that that our nursery attendants and volunteers be able to give their undivided attention and care to these children without distractions or interruptions. We are asking that you help us in enforcing this policy by reminding the young people of our church of the importance of this issue. Thank you for your support in providing the best possible care for the children of both members and visitors to St. John’s.

                                                                   Sincerely, The Christian Education Committee
